Attend this training to become a group leader or macroinvertebrate collector for the Little Forks Conservancy's biannual samplings of the Cedar River.
As a leader, you will help lead a team at one of the sampling sites. You will also be responsible for filling out data sheets and keeping track of time.
As a collector, you will suit up in a pair of waders, get in the river, and sample a variety of river habitats for macroinvertebrates.
At this training, you will learn how to identify the different sampling environments, fill out our datasheets, use macroinvertebrate sampling techniques, and more! The training will begin with a short presentation, followed by a field portion involving attendees getting into Snake Creek to practice collection techniques. Attendees should plan to meet at Dow Gardens' Education Center Conference Room off of Eastman Avenue in Midland for the presentation. **
Contact Shelby at sgentle@littleforks.org or call our office at 989-835-4886 ext 103 with any questions. If the event is cancelled due to weather, we will reach out to the attendees about rescheduling.
