Manny's will host the following events during Lit Crawl -

Phase 1 (5pm - 6pm) - The Interrupted Artist: Writing Motherhood

Creative practice and motherhood flourish in community. A multi-genre group of artists and writers share work shaped by the conditions of mothering -- from embracing distraction as creative fuel to finding theater in the everyday of parenting. Through conversation and community, let’s weave an infrastructure of support for parenting and creativity that acknowledges constraints while reorienting around a frame of mothering as a site of creative possibility.

Phase 2 (6:30-7:30pm) - Six Word Memoirs: Not Quite What I Was Planning: Stories of Unplanned and Unscripted Lifequakes

Six Words Live returns to Lit Crawl with a backstory show hosted by Larry Smith, creator of the Six-Word Memoir Project. Five storytellers will kick off their story with a Six-Word Memoir, then dive into the fuller tale behind it — each in six (ish) minutes. Expect an evening with stories that range from the profound to the playful, the unexpected to the unbelievable.

As part of the evening, it’s your turn: a Six-Word Slam where everyone in the audience is invited to share their own six-word take on "Not Quite What I Was Planning." Then the audience will vote on one bold participant to tell a brief backstory behind their words.

Phase 3 (8-9pm) Stanford Continuing Studies: No one was supposed to know! Curated by Malena Watrous.

Stories of secrecy and subterfuge, excerpted from novels created in Stanford Continuing Studies' Online Writer's Certificate Program, read by students who've just completed their 2 years of coursework.
