Join us for a musical performance by Lisa Alvarado and Joshua Abrams, part of the opening celebration for Alvarado’s new exhibition PULSE MERIDIAN FOLIATION.
REDCAT celebrates the first solo exhibition of Lisa Alvarado in Los Angeles, Pulse Meridian Foliation, with an opening reception followed by a performance by Alvarado and Joshua Abrams.
Alvarado’s paintings have accompanied for many years the performances of Natural Information Society (NIS), the ensemble in which she plays the harmonium, along with Joshua Abrams, composer, multi-instrumentalist, improviser and founder of NIS. The duo will perform inside the exhibition Pulse Meridian Foliation, creating a unique sonic and visual environment.
The opening reception is from 7 PM - 10 PM. The performance starts at 7:30 PM.
"For Alvarado and Natural Information Society, the paintings serve as mandalas, a visual focus point that allows an audience to focus their gaze amidst waves of sound. She considers the music and paintings interdependent and the exhibition will include an ambient soundtrack during regular gallery hours as well as a schedule of performances."
