Series Description:

​​Are you worried about the health and well-being of your LGBTQ+ staff and youth? Do you want to join a community that cares about providing better support and safety? Do you want to be a better advocate?

In this series, you’ll join a group of peers who are also eager to create a more secure, supportive, and celebratory environment for LGTBQ+ community members. Join us!

The details:

  • We’ll meet three times over Zoom during the fall semester. Dates and descriptions are below.
  • Each meeting will last for 3 hours, from 9am - 12pm, (with a break halfway through!)
  • Coaching hours are available to those who attend all three sessions, to help you implement what we learn throughout the series.

About the facilitators:

Session 2: Learn, Celebrate, and Elevate

Date: Friday, December 12th

Time: 9am - 12pm

Goal: In this session, we will deepen our understanding of how to practice LGBTQ+ Youth Allyship and learn ways to celebrate and elevate LGBTQ+ youth within our programs

Objectives: Participants will…

  • Understand how to create safe(r) learning spaces
  • Craft a learning plan of what we want to learn, including when and how we will use our learning, and share resources for where to learn more (e.g. books, websites)
  • Explore how we are celebrating and elevating LGBTQ+ Youth, through everyday interactions (beyond parties or events)
  • Offer tools and next steps for thoughtful LGBTQ+ youth-centered learning, activities, and celebrations


Session 3: Support and Integration

Date: Friday, January 23rd

Time: 9am - 12pm

Goal: Through this session, we will unpack what “Support” LGBTQ+ youth means in our respective programs and organizations, so we can continue moving the work forward

Objectives: Participants will…

  • Develop a shared definition of “support”
  • Learn and share ways to support LGBTQ+ students
  • Create a plan and commitments for developing a more supportive program for LGTBQ+ students and staff
