Letterpress Printing on Fabric Workshop
Overview
Letterpress Printing on Fabric Workshop
Join Mitchel Ahern at the Museum of Printing for a hands-on experience in Letterpress Printing on Fabric!
This one-day 5-hour workshop covers a broad range of materials and techniques for letterpress printing on fabric. Fabrics may include muslin, drill, canvas, cotton t-shirts and flour-sack dish towels. Varieties and behaviors of inks will be discussed, and a variety of impression techniques: the barren, the hammer, body-weight, roller press, sleigh press and others. Working in color and registration will also be reviewed. Students will print their own work on flour-sack dish towels (provided).
Participants who practice linoleum block cutting are urged to bring some of their work for printing. Mitchel will bring examples of his own letterpress on fabric work, including dishtowels, canvases, and both horizontal and vertical large-format scrolls.
Bring a bag lunch. Spaces are limited, so secure your spot now.
