Let's Talk: White Adjacency
Join the South Asian Solidarity Movement at Haymarket House for an engaging and interactive evening of guided facilitation and reflection on the topic of White adjacency.
This will be an interactive and self- reflective evening guided by experienced Psychologists and DEI practitioners meant to encourage BIPOC to unpack and unlearn the subconscious tendencies to center Whiteness. The conversation will be tied to the current political climate and the attack on Black and Brown Americans.
This evening will offer a safe space for discussing the complexities of privilege, white adjacency and solidarity buildling. We will also hold space to to process the grief many are feeling and find ways to support each other and collectively resist. Comedian Sonal Aggarwal will open the night with a set on White Adjacency to bring some light and levity because joy is an act of resistance too!
Together we’ll unpack:
· What white adjacency looks like in our daily lives
· How it impacts South Asian and BIPOC identity, community, and solidarity
· Ways we can move beyond assimilation and toward authentic belonging and collective liberation
It’s time we stop trying to “fit in” and focus more on belonging. History reminds us that when we stop trying to blend in and hold space for our differences, we feel more connected to ourselves and to each other. Let's come together to listen, learn, and grow stronger as a community.
This is open to people across ALL communities of color because White adjcaency is a subconscious practice that impacts all BIPOC communities. So, spread the word and bring a friend! We hope to see you at Haymarket House on Friday, October 24th!
