Let's Start a Band! Zine Release Party
Overview
Celebrate the launch of LET’S START A BAND, a ‘zine about collaboration, hustle, and grit by Chris Scianni (writer) and Hugo Lindgren (editor /publisher). This isn’t just a book talk; it’s more like a first gig — part conversation, part live experiment — where we’ll actually form a new band right there in the room. LET’S START A BAND is a crash course in making it up as you go.
We'll also be featuring an exhibit of great New York City musical moments by photographer Gregg Greenwood.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
CHRIS SCIANNI started his first band when he was 13. They were called the Amazings. He has gone out to play in, oh, 25 or 30 others, he’s lost count. Big Blue Squid, Dangerman, Tangiers Blues Band, Waterside Slim. Along the way, he has performed at Madison Square Garden and Royal Albert Music Hall, jammed with Bruce Springsteen and members of Metallica and Pearl Jam, and played in a touring band with tennis legend John McEnroe.
He lives in Manhattan with his wife Liz and their son Leo, who is still deciding whether he wants to be a baseball player or a drummer.
Hugo Lindgren is an editor, producer and proprietor of MEAN MEAN THIRST, a publishing company making its debut with this zine. He still makes people listen to the demo tape of his high-school band, Oedipus and the Mama's Boys.
