Let’s Make Kimchi! – A Hands-On Fermentation Experience

Whether you’re new to fermentation or already a fan, this session will walk you through the entire process—from preparing the vegetables and mixing the paste to packing your own jars of kimchi to take home.

We'll taste different kimchis, enjoyed along with a korean-style dish, and share tips for customising your own batch.

We’ll learn about fermentation basics, and explore the cultural roots of kimchi and other vegetable ferments.

What you'll get:

  • All ingredients and tools to make kimchi (except jars)
  • A kimchi tasting, with a korean-style snack
  • Your own handmade kimchi to take home
  • Knowlege and confidence to make kimchi yourself at home
  • Tea, coffee and refreshments

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to bring?

Please bring: two clean jars (about 500ml each) with lids and a bag to carry home your kimchi jars in. You may also wish to bring an apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy, and slippers (we also have slippers available). And of course your curiosity and appetite!

What language is the workshop in?

The main workshop language is English but Jem is happy to take questions and explain things in German too.
