ABOUT CHASING RED FLAGS
During an eight-hour road trip in the summer of 2023, mother-daughter duo Teri and Ella opened up about their experiences with red flags in relationships, difficult breakups, friendship losses, and the challenge of managing anxiety. Through these honest conversations and the personal growth gained from therapy, they discovered a shared passion for helping others prioritize mental health. From this journey, Chasing Red Flags was born.
Chasing Red Flags’ mission is to promote authenticity and mental wellness by challenging societal demands for perfection. Their name reflects a core belief: that the 'red flags' in our lives, often seen as flaws or warnings, are actually powerful signals guiding us toward healing, self-awareness, and transformation. Instead of avoiding red flags, they’re embraced as opportunities to look inward, reclaim our power, and create lasting change from within.
Teri Macduff, Co-Founder and CEO of Chasing Red Flags,
Teri brings more than two decades of leadership, empathy, and real-world experience to a movement focused on mental wellness and authenticity. After earning her degree in Criminal Justice from George Washington University, Teri began her career at the Massachusetts Committee for Children & Youth, where her passion for safety and advocacy took root. She later joined Fidelity Investments, gaining valuable experience in corporate event planning before launching a successful 23-year career as a professional organizer, helping individuals, families, and businesses simplify systems and create meaningful change. However, her most defining role is that of a mom. Known for her honest perspective and straight-to-the-point advice, Teri is affectionately called the “unpaid therapist” among her kids and their friends. Her signature “Teri Talks” offers real-world wisdom and compassionate insight, shaping the heart of Chasing Red Flags’ mission to challenge perfectionism and celebrate realness.
Ella Macduff, Co-Founder & President of Chasing Red Flags
Ella boldly advocates for mental health awareness and authenticity. Currently a student at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, Ella merges her passion for storytelling and connection with real-world experience in marketing and relationship building. She has served as a social media and marketing intern for Team Impact, helping to expand its presence on campus and connect more students to its mission. She most recently worked at Commonwealth Financial Network as a Marketing Intern. This summer, she’ll be joining the Marketing Department at Fidelity Investments. With a deep understanding of the challenges faced by young people, Ella is committed to creating space for honest conversations and meaningful connections, rooted in self-awareness, vulnerability, and the freedom to be unapologetically oneself.
