KC Eats in their own words:
KC Eats: We Feed Our OwnWho We AreKC Eats came together when the government shut down and people’s food stamps hit the chopping block. We looked around and said: We’re done waiting. If they won’t feed us, we’ll feed each other. We are neighbors, brothers, sisters, organizers, cooks, farmers, and folks who care. We believe food is a human right — not a handout. What We Believe• Only we protect us. No saviors, no middlemen, no permission.• Dignity for everyone. You deserve to eat without shame.• Solidarity, not charity. We don’t serve — we share.• Transparency. You’ll always know where the food and money go.• Longevity. We build solutions for tomorrow, not just treat symptoms today. Our Big Goals (2025–2027)1. Feed the People, For RealWe’re building community collection networks and partnering with local food banks so folks can get food when they need it — no forms, no waiting lines, no judgment. How:• Supply 5 neighborhood food banks by end of 2025.• Build a central kitchen + storage hub by the end of 2026.• Serve 5,000+ meals a month by 2026.2. Grow Our Own FoodWe’re tired of begging for donations. We’ll grow food the same way we organize-- from the grassroots. How:• 3 community gardens running by 2026.• 10 farmer partnerships by the end of 2026.• Pilot a “Pay What You Can” market by 2027.3. Teach the Power of FoodFood is more than a meal — it’s history, culture, and resistance. How:• Host monthly workshops on cooking, gardening, and preserving food.• Hold one annual “KC Food Justice Summit.”4. Build Power TogetherWe’re stronger when we link arms. KC Eats will connect with other groups, churches, health centers, and mutual aid crews to share resources and push for better food policy. How:• Build 10 solid partnerships by the end of 2025.• Join city food policy groups to make sure the people are heard.• Support campaigns for fair SNAP, community gardens, and local farms.5. Keep It Real and SustainableWe don’t want burnout — we want a movement that lasts. How:• Create a community board of real KC residents.• Be transparent with our money and food numbers.• Raise funds from the people and small grants — not corporate control.• Train volunteers to become leaders. How to Help• Volunteer — cook, deliver, or organize.• Donate— even $5 helps feed a family.• Share our story — tell your people KC Eats is here.Tagline: We’re done asking how. We're done waiting. We feed our own. Now.
