It will assist the building official or inspector, or persons interested in said discipline in understanding the legal concepts related to the model building codes. The course will address the specific legal issues that building officials and inspectors face in carrying out their duties and will focus on administrative issues such as the permit, inspection, plan review and appeal processes as well as enforcement issues including stop work orders, notices of violation, and complaints. Writing administrative search warrants and legal issues and liability specific to building officials and inspectors will also be covered.
