📚 Lecture: “U.S. Government Censorship and the Assault on Knowledge”

🎤 Speaker: Lisa Schiff

Donald Trump began his second presidential term by launching an unprecedented assault on our nation’s research, education, and knowledge infrastructure. His administration's actions have spanned direct censorship of academic and federally supported research, the dismantling of federal agencies, and destructive financial and legal attacks on higher education institutions and their communities.

In this compelling talk, Lisa Schiff will explore the various and sometimes surprising forms of censorship that hinder the development of and access to knowledge, as well as their impact on our collective well-being. Attendees will also learn about numerous resistance efforts and how the general public can actively participate in ending government censorship to prevent its current and future harm.

Lisa Schiff has been an academic librarian at the University of California, Office of the President for nearly 20 years, holding an M.L.I.S. and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Studies. She co-authored the "Declaration to Defend Research Against US Government Censorship" and is part of the #DefendResearch initiative, raising awareness about this critical issue.

Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with Lisa Schiff on a vital topic that affects us all!
