📚 Lecture: “Taylor Swift & The Art of Storytelling”

🎤 Speaker: Professor Isabella Tecson

Taylor Swift isn’t just a talented songwriter; she’s one of the most effective storytellers of our time. In this captivating lecture, Professor Isabella Tecson will explore Swift's music through the lens of screenwriting, examining elements such as characterization, world-building, structure, and suspense.

Why do her songs feel like they introduce recurring characters? How do her albums reflect the narrative arcs of long-running TV series, complete with cliffhangers and callbacks? And what classic storytelling tricks—from fairy-tale archetypes to cinematic framing—help her create immersive worlds within just three minutes of lyrics?

Join us as we break down Swift’s discography, revealing how she crafts not just pop music but serialized storytelling that transforms listeners into lifelong audiences.

Isabella Tecson is an adjunct professor of screenwriting and creative writing at Queens College, and a creative nonfiction MFA candidate at CCNY. With nearly a decade of experience as a script doctor, she combines a theatre-kid sense of humor with extensive research in her approach to storytelling.

Don’t miss this chance to discover the storytelling genius behind Taylor Swift's music!
