Join us for a captivating evening with Dr. Moiya McTier to celebrate the longest day of the year by deepening our understanding of the Sun. In this engaging lecture, we’ll explore how our distant ancestors perceived the brilliant, hot light in the sky and delve into how modern scientists study our nearest star—a nuclear reactor located 93 million miles away.

Dr. McTier will share fascinating stories and scientific insights, connecting ancient cultural beliefs to contemporary research, illuminating the Sun's role in our lives, history, and the universe. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the magnificent star that sustains us and how our relationship with it has evolved over time.

Dr. Moiya McTier is an astrophysicist, folklorist, and science communicator based in NYC. Since graduating from Harvard and Columbia, Dr. Moiya has given hundreds of talks on science around the world, consulted with Disney and others on very cool projects, and published her debut book THE MILKY WAY: An Autobiography of Our Galaxy, which was named a best book of 2022 by Publishers Weekly.
