Eric Muensterman is local print artist and teacher who resides in the Napa Valley, he’s been teaching printmaking in the valley for the last eight years up and down the valley. His passion is carving linoleum and wood while mixing in other elements to create both wearable and fine wall art. He began learning print at age 12. The medium of print has been a lifelong journey for him that he’s passionate about and is excited to share with other young artists.
What to Expect:
Class TWO- July 1st
Intro Dry Point
One pack of 5x7 carve etching plates
Students will scratch or “etch” an image or photo into a plastic sheet that will then be printed using a manual etching press.
Class THREE- July 8th
Tetra pack box
Student will work with images from Napa to create a printable reusable “plate” from recycled materials. The three layer paper will be ripped and cut in a way to create an image. The plate will then be inked and printed on A Ravi Etching press.
Class FOUR- July 15th
Solar Print
Students will great a image on a photosensitive plate . The image will then be exposed to the sun and developed inside. Once the image has been created, students will learn how to ink and print a solar plate.
We will also delve into other styles of solar printing, including Solar Fast Jacard inks
Class FIVE Gelli printing- July 22nd
Geli printing is a fun printing adventure using textures both found and created.
Magazines and LaserJet copies can be used to create graphics, which can be colored,painted and changed to create amazing masterpieces.
This a great way to make unique one off holiday cards/greeting cards or colorful pop art.
Class 6- July 29th
Collagraph printing
This class will focus on abstract print making. Students will be tasked to create something that has no meaning yet has form. Materials will be provided that can be cut, stretched, ripped and sealed to a printing plate. Once dry, this plate will be printed through an etching press in the same manner of classes, three and four.
This technique is very old and very fun.
Class SEVEN- August 5th
Text textile print workshop /rubber block
Students will be supped with a 8X10 rubber block that can be used to create a tee shirt
