About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours 30 minutes

This isn't a workshop to try and fix the world. It is a space to connect back to your purpose, to find some clarity of what you can do amidst the heartbreak of the world.

We are living in crazy, uncertain times.

Everywhere we turn, we see evidence of crises in our societies and across the world: armed conflicts, climate change, poverty, systemic racism, mass species extinctions, and the collapse of familiar institutions and support structures. It can be hard to know what to do, or where to start, when faced with this immense suffering.

To remain conscious and engaged as these actions unfold can be heartbreaking, and the fear, grief, anger, and helplessness you feel may seem unbearable. This workshop will provide a space to express these emotions and discover a path forward.

Together we will explore 'The Spiral' of The Work That Reconnects, a body of work created by deep ecologist, activist and beloved elder, Joanna Macy.

In this experiential workshop we invite you to be guided through a process that will use small group discussion, creative activities and reflection to:

  • Welcome the complex emotions that are alive for you, staying curious as to what these emotions are telling you about who you are and the role you have to play
  • Support you to feel less alone with the anxieties and stresses of present-day life, taking time to recognise the radical interconnectedness of all life on Earth
  • Resource you to emerge with greater capacity, clarity and courage to take your next steps

Meditation and mindfulness are weaved throughout the session, to facilitate connections back to yourself and life.

DISCLAIMER: This isn't a workshop to try and fix the world. But it is a space to connect back to your purpose and to find some clarity of what you can do amidst the heartbreak of the world.
