This is the main section of the first class. Get comfortable with the equipment and tools and learn to sew straight seams

Demonstrate your skills to the instructor and your classmates to "graduate" to the next session.

Come join us for a fun and interactive sewing workshop with Springclean! Whether you're a beginner or looking to brush up on your skills, this event is perfect for you. Get hands-on experience and learn all the basics of sewing from threading a needle to creating your own projects. Springclean will guide you through step by step, so don't worry if you're new to sewing. Bring your creativity and let's have a great time together!

Course Highlights

Machine Basics: Learn the anatomy of a sewing machine, how to thread it correctly, how to wind a bobbin, how to adjust thread tension, how to clean and maintain your machine, and how to troubleshoot common issues.

Materials Basics: Learn the difference between common fabrics, types of needles, types of machine “feet,” types of bobbins, and recommended tools, such as a seam ripper, marking tools, measuring tools, pins or clips, and more. We’ll cover the most recommended tools -- and what you can do without!

Sewing Techniques: Once your machine is properly threaded, we will begin by setting our stitch length and testing thread tension. Then, we will practice backstitching, sewing straight lines, curves, and 90-degree corners. We’ll apply these skills to move on to more advanced areas, such as sewing gathers and french seams, inserting zippers, and more.

We have machines available to rent.

What level is this class?

This class is a beginner level and is the first in a 4-class series. Each class you will leave with an item that you have made.

Not yet. This is session 1 in a 4-class series. Please reserve your spot to attend session 1, after successful completion, you will receive details for the remaining sessions.

How does free parking work?

There are a two options. You may park in the parking deck directly across the street from our shop, which offers the first 3 hours free. Or you may park in the open lot closest to Statesville Avenue, which is completely free and walk over to our shop.
