About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

There are many variations of chana masala made throughout South Asia. We'll learn one variation in this class and eat it together! Chana masala is naturally vegan and it naturally slaps. Come learn something new and make friends over food!

This class is led by South Philly resident Shebani Rao, who wants to show you that there is more to life and South Asian food than chicken tikka masala. Shebani is obsessed with finding ingredients in the neighborhood and will point you to small businesses that will help you stock your kitchen. She is also passionate about how historical trends shape the food we eat, so you'll probably get a little side of history too.

This event is FREE to attend to help make South Asian cooking accessible to everyone! Feel free to make a donation to @shebani-rao on Venmo help cover supplies (suggested amount: $20).
