Overview

Beginner-friendly, drop-in line dancing with Robyn Nicole! Zero pressure, all fun. Select Tuesdays in the Mechanics’ Hall ballroom

Yeehaw! Community icon Robyn Nicole (yep, of Queer Makers' Market fame) is taking over the Hall with three drop-in line-dancing sessions. You’re absolutely invited for zero pressure, maximum silliness, and a sweet little reset with new friends.

This line dance class is geared toward absolute beginners in line dance, people who haven’t danced since they were six, and people who are nervous to dance now that they are adults.

Participants need no prior dance education or special attire, just an open mind and a willingness to be gentle with themselves while they learn something new. This class is open to all ages and abilities (listener discretion may be advised based on some music choices).

It is located in the ballroom on the third floor, accessible via stairs and elevator. Mechanics’ Hall is located at 519 Congress Street in downtown Portland, ME and accessible via ramp.

Tuesdays, December 9, January 6, & February 3 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, doors open to the public at 5:30 PM. Attendance at all three classes is NOT required.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Robyn (she/her) is a queer artist and community organizer living in Scarborough, ME. She comes to dance instruction via a long and storied career path (English Language Arts teacher, nanny, event photographer, and organizer of Portland’s Queer Makers’ Market) all spinning out from the common central focus of magnifying the skills and joys of other human beings. She started line dancing in March of 2025 and immediately fell in love with its accessibility and versatility as a somatic response to our current sociopolitical climate. Her core beliefs are that anyone can dance and anyone can learn. Her favorite dancers are children at weddings and people who do that little wiggle when they eat good food.
