Of course you do. With React you can build apps for any platform. Web, desktop, mobile... Learn once, write anywhere.
Unfortunately, React is hard to learn.
Everything that makes React a great to know also makes it difficult to Learn. The community is divided between web, desktop, and mobile. So, most content is either too focused or too broad. And almost all of it is focused on knowledge, not creation.

**This workshop is different.**
I teach only the things you need to make apps and websites, today. You'll learn everything you need to make API-connected apps right now. We won't fixate on performance or code organization optimizations; we'll focus on making and **learning by doing**.
If you like to create, invent, and learn by doing, this workshop is for you.
## What you'll Learn!
We'll start from absolute basics and move quickly to creating a working App. Once we have the app, we'll transform it into into both website and native mobile app.
By the end, you'll have made a simple Pokedex that interacts with an API and works in the browser and mobile simulator. Along the way, you'll learn about al the important React buzz-words:
* Container components
* Stateless functional components
* Functional setState
* Component composition
* Render props
* Component Lifecycle events
* create-react-app
* create-react-native-app
There is no software required for purchase, but you will need a notebook that is capable of working on these websites:
When we get into making our little app a website and native app, you'll need to run these two node programs:

This will require that `node` and `npm` are setup on your machine.
If they are not, and you're still interested in the class, we can organize a time (before the workshop) to get them setup on your machine.
## About the instructor
Michael Chan is a second career web developer. He has a business degree and 10 years of accounting experience that went up in flames during the financial collapse of 2008.
He's now an international speaker and React educator. He loves helping second-career devs jumpstart their career with React at learnreact.com.
