Workshops are for adults or teens 15+ due to the fine motor skills required and use of ink. Ticket admission is the same price for adults and teens over 15. For safety reasons, children under 18 must be accompanied with a ticketed adult.

After class support | Leave the class with foundational calligraphy skills, and everything needed to keep practicing and to get you started on beautiful envelopes, gift tags, or journaling projects. After class, you’ll be invited to join our private Facebook group, where students can ask follow-up questions, share their projects, and get ongoing tips and support from our instructor and fellow calligraphy lovers in the area.
Instructor | Pearl Lui is an artist and modern calligrapher with over 14 years of calligraphy experience and is a member of International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH) and the Society of Scribes New York City. She has learned a number of calligraphy hands including Engrosser's Script / Copperplate, Spencerian, and American Cursive, while specializing in Modern Calligraphy, blending traditional letterforms with a modern touch. Before her art and calligraphy career, she spent over two decades leading marketing teams at publicly traded companies.

Our modern calligraphy workshop is designed for beginners. You’ll learn everything from how to hold the pen to forming basic strokes, letters, and words.
Included is 90 minutes of workshop instruction. You’ll also receive our carefully curated Calligraphy Essentials Kit, which includes a pointed pen nib, nib holder, ink, exemplars, practice guides, and papers—all yours to keep! We've tried everything and picked the best materials for beginners.
Our introductory classes run for 90 minutes —plenty of time to learn, practice, and get individual guidance.
Just bring yourself and curiosity! All materials will be provided with your admission. You may want to wear something comfortable and avoid light-colored sleeves—ink can sometimes be sneaky!
