This FREE workshop is intended for anyone interested in learning how to program voice controlled devices. Amazon Alexa is a great place to start.
Developers and businesses are reaching new audiences by building and adding skills to Alexa. These include Capital One, Domino’s, Fitbit, KAYAK, PGA Tour, Samsung SmartThings, Uber and Nutritionix.
Liz Myers, Sr. Business Development Manager, Entertainment Domain and Alexa evangelist at Amazon in Seattle, will walk attendees through the development of a new Alexa skill and incorporate it into a consumer-facing device.

Why You Should Learn to create Alexa Skills

First, your new skills will be published in the Alexa app (Amazon’s voice app store) store, which will in and of itself be a great addition to your portfolio.

Second, you’ll gain experience with three additional platforms: Amazon’s Alexa Skills Kit, AWS Lambda (part of Amazon Web Services), and the NodeJS backend JavaScript framework.

Finally, try your luck at getting a job on the Alexa team! Code District will continue to have Alexa trainings. This will give you a chance to polish your portfolio and resume, and submit your application for one of the Alexa team openings.
Food and refreshments with be provided. Free promotions and devices from Amazon will be available for attendees. Note: To be eligible for a free device, participants must complete and publish 3 skills. Details will be given during workshop.
