🛠️ Earth Building Weekend: Plaster & Finish the Garden Gnome Home 🏡

Two-Days of Natural Building Workshop • Whidbey Island, WA

Join us for a hands-on, two-day natural building experience where we'll bring new life to an old garden hobbit house! Nestled on 5 acres full of alpacas, meadows, natural beauty and blooming permaculture gardens. This workshop is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, creatives, homesteaders, and anyone curious about natural building techniques.

🪵 What We’re Doing:

This structure has been resting for 5 years — now it's time to finish what we started with the earth. We'll focus on plastering and finish work, preparing and rehydrating existing walls, and applying fresh natural plaster made from clay, sand, and straw. You’ll also get to observe traditional wattle and daub techniques and learn how these time-tested methods are used to create cozy, beautiful, earth-based structures.

We're turning this hobbit house into a real place to stay — a whimsical little garden gnome home — and you'll be part of its story.

👷‍♂️ Learn from a Local:

You’ll be working with a Whidbey Island-based natural builder who has been practicing and teaching these techniques for years. This is your chance to learn the art and feel of natural materials from someone who lives and breathes the craft.

🏕️ Event Details:

  • This is a two-day workshop (Listed as individual days. Contact for both days)
  • Camping is welcome and encouraged for those that join both days! Bring your tent and enjoy the land overnight.
