Attendees are required to bring their own computer and mouse, with minecraft installed.

This course runs over 3 days with 1 ticket per attendee. Attendees are to attend all 3 days.

Computer science covers the fundamentals of how computers work, and in this course, we will discover how computers remember, how computers can add and subtract numbers, how computers can think, all by building them in the wonderful world of minecraft. This involves working with redstone (Minecraft's circuitry) to build computers.

I would recommend that attendees have at least some minecraft playing experience, to the extent of knowing the controls so that they can keep up.

We will be doing a lot of building in minecraft but also covering theory behind every concept including booleans, binary, and some brief history of computing.

Frequently asked questions

What age range is recommended?

I recommend that this course would be most beneficial to children 10+ due to the theory we cover and the reasonably complex systems we will be designing in minecraft. However, if your child is good at minecraft, any age is fine.

What do I need to bring?

You NEED to already have minecraft installed and set up on the computer, and you will need to run it to make sure it works. We will be working with version 1.21.1 but as long as the launcher is installed and you are logged in I can set this up. You will also need a mouse and charger.

Do I need any programming experience?

No, you do not need any programming experience.
