LEAP Module 8: Giving and Receiving Feedback (For City of Detroit employees only)
Feedback is the information sent to an entity (individual or a group) about its prior behavior so that the entity may adjust its current and future behavior to achieve the desired result. This four-hour module identifies various types of feedback and describes features of giving effective feedback to a co-worker and to the manager using the one-minute praise model, ask-tell-ask, sandwich method, and the IDEAL model. While a person can give feedback, s/he should also be receptive to receiving it. The workshop mentions several tips for receiving feedback even though the receiver may be expecting positive feedback.
The Employee LEAP program is a series of workshops giving participants the necessary skills and knowledge to make them more productive, efficient, and valuable in the organization. The LEAP acronym stands for:
• L – Learn
• E – Engage
• A – Apply
• P – Perform
Once participants learn the material, participants engage with it using interactive workshop activities. Then, they apply the material in their work environment and perform to the best of their abilities having acquired new talents and skills.
Registration is required to validate attendance and receive course materials.

• Participants can earn .4 CEUs per 4-hour course
• Participants must attend the entire 4-hour course
• Participants must register, arrive on time, and validate attendance
• Participants must participate in each activity
• Participants must use at least one device that identifies them during the session
Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
