LEAP Module 2: Communicating Effectively (For City of Detroit employees only)
This four-hour workshop forms the basis for communication. Communication occurs where one party wants to send a message to another. When the verbal or non-verbal message breaks down between the sender and receiver, it is often because of ‘noise’ attributed to various communication barriers. In the work environment, employees should know the appropriate channels to communicate. Organizations transmit workplace communication laterally, horizontally, or even vertically from management to employees or from employees to management. Learn how to communicate effectively, build stronger relationships through more powerful communications, and overcome communication barriers by attending this workshop.
The Employee LEAP program is a series of workshops giving participants the necessary skills and knowledge to make them more productive, efficient, and valuable in the organization. The LEAP acronym stands for:
• L – Learn
• E – Engage
• A – Apply
• P – Perform
Once participants learn the material, participants engage with it using interactive workshop activities. Then, they apply the material in their work environment and perform to the best of their abilities having acquired new talents and skills.
