LEAP Module 10: Work-Life Balance (For City of Detroit employees only)

This four-hour Work-Life Balance workshop first introduces key concepts centering on definitions for work, life, and balance and the term work-life balance’s origin. A study of US employees reporting on work-life imbalance ensues. We see how the three work-life domains of work, relationships, and self-care connect to time, energy, and money inputs. The next two sections highlight strategies to create balance and examine how to better ‘manage’ components responsible for work-life imbalance respectively. Participants then view a practical work-life balance roadmap consisting of eight destination markers – practical tools to stay balanced – as well as a visual diagram of this workshop’s entire framework. Finally, the session concludes with myths surrounding work-life balance.

The Employee LEAP program is a series of workshops giving participants the necessary skills and knowledge to make them more productive, efficient, and valuable in the organization. The LEAP acronym stands for:
• L – Learn
• E – Engage
• A – Apply
• P – Perform

Once participants learn the material, participants engage with it using interactive workshop activities. Then, they apply the material in their work environment and perform to the best of their abilities having acquired new talents and skills.
