About the Workshop

This interactive 90-minute workshop introduces the core principles of Lean Six Sigma and how they improve the way work gets done. Participants learn how to spot and reduce waste, improve quality, and engage teams in solving meaningful problems.

Led by a Gemba Academy Lean Six Sigma instructor, the session combines clear frameworks, relatable examples, and real-world application. You’ll walk away with practical tools you can use immediately and a stronger understanding of how continuous improvement drives results for you, your team, and your organization.

What You’ll Learn:

In this introductory workshop, you’ll explore:

• How Lean and Six Sigma support process improvement, flow, and variation reduction
• How to see waste by observing work, going to the Gemba, and understanding value
• Workplace productivity basics including 5S
• A high-level review of the deadly wastes and common process challenges
• How to define problems, understand causes, and use simple mapping tools
• How to read basic data trends and use structured brainstorming
• Improvement methods including VSM, PPS, rapid improvement events, and DMAIC
• A brief overview of TWI, Toyota Kata, TPM, changeovers, 3P, and FMEA

• Team members new to Lean or Six Sigma
• Supervisors or managers introducing continuous improvement

No prior experience is required.

As a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, John has over 30 years of experience in operational excellence. He served 21 years in the US Air Force -- 11 as an internal coach and consultant. He led strategy and change efforts with Booz | Allen | Hamilton for 18 clients. He was an internal coach and consultant for Fortune 100, United Services Automobile Association. And, he’s been a solopreneur growing, scaling, and improving companies for over 12 years. In addition to multiple certifications in change management, project management, agile, and information technology, John has a Bachelor’s in Management, a Master’s in Quality Systems Management, and a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
