About this event

We are Peter Godard (he/him) from Great Bear Coaching and Max Weinberg (he/him) from Belonging Education. As queer educators/leaders, we longed for a dedicated space where queer/LGBTQIA+ educators could come together, connect, and thrive. So, we decided to create one, and you’re invited!

We seek to co-create a virtual space that’s supportive, celebratory, and empowering for LGBTQIA+ educators across the nation. Whether you're a classroom teacher, counselor, support staff, or administrator, this affinity space is for you. Participants will help set the agenda as we inspire each other to grow, connect, and transform our work in schools and beyond.

ZOOM link will be sent via calendar invite, with a reminder about 15 minutes before the session.

🌈 Purpose

This space centers our identities as sources of strength, insight, and transformative leadership—regardless of formal role or title. Together, we will:

  • Build community and create a network of LGBTQIA+ educators with a shared identity.
  • Cultivate joy and belonging for ourselves, so we can foster the same for others.
  • Reflect on queerness as a superpower, especially in spaces where we may feel isolated or at risk.
  • Co-strategize around common challenges, sharing solutions rooted in lived experience.

🧭 Format

We’ll gather twice monthly in April and May, with a flexible, evolving format based on the needs of the group. Each session is a space of trust—we believe the conversations that emerge are the ones that are meant to happen.

Potential session elements include:

  • Shared learning and leadership development segments
  • Breakout groups for affinity space connection
  • Interactive storytelling and collaborative activities
  • Somatic and mindfulness practices to support our nervous systems
