This training covers California laws and ethics as they apply to certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists (MPSS). It includes the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Code of Ethics for Medi-CAL Peer Support Specialists (MPSS) and the Code of Ethics Violation Guidelines. It also provides detailed information about behavioral health ethics, boundaries, and dual relationships; confidentiality and HIPAA; mandated reporting; and additional ethical and legal considerations.
Certified MPSS who complete this 7-hour training may obtain 6 Continuing Education Units towards their recertification as MPSS. This training is a requirement every 2 years for those seeking to renew their MPSS certification.
Held on the third Friday of each month. The full training time includes two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute meal break.
