• Workshop 1: Monochromatic Painting – Sometimes when people first start watercolor they have a hard time painting dark enough. Their paintings are very pale and almost pastel in appearance. As much as I love color, I have also become really fascinated by monochromatic artwork too. Painting all in one color of paint instead of using other colors. This is something really fun to do too, especially with watercolor because you use the white of the page instead of white paint (sometimes you can use a little white paint). Painting with one color is also a good way to challenge yourself to get the lights and darks of the composition. That is what we will do here. For this class, bring in some reference photos (you can run them by me first if you want). I will also have some references in class to use as well. Don’t worry, you don’t have to draw the image, we can trace them if you want.
