Laurens County Presentation Workshop

4-H Presentation Contest participants are required to create and deliver an original presentation on a topic related to one of their favorite 4-H project areas, such as Agriculture, Animals, Natural Resources, Healthy Lifestyles, STEM or Leadership, Citizenship, and Personal Development.

During the 4-H Presentation Workshop, youth will build confidence and sharpen their public speaking skills. They will learn how to choose engaging topics, organize their content, use visual aids effectively, and deliver clear, confident presentations. Through hands-on activities and practice sessions, participants will be well-prepared for future 4-H events and competitions.

This hands-on workshop is designed to help youth at all levels improve their public speaking and presentation abilities. Sessions will be divided into two tracks to best support each participant’s experience level:

Rookies – New to Presentations?

Perfect for first-time presenters or those with limited experience. Youth in the Rookie sessions will:

  • Learn about the 4-H presentation contest including registration, regional submissions, and what happens if you move on to the state competition.
  • Choose engaging and age-appropriate topics
  • Begin organizing ideas into a clear structure
  • Practice basic speaking skills like voice projection and posture
  • Get comfortable setting up your presentation with a mock contest

Veteran – Ready to Level Up?

For returning presenters or those with prior public speaking experience. Youth in the Veteran sessions will:

  • Strengthen delivery through advanced speaking techniques
  • Refine visual aids for greater impact
  • Learn tips to stand out in 4-H competitions
  • Practice under real-time conditions for confidence on stage

Both tracks include practice sessions, peer collaboration, and individualized coaching, ensuring every participant leaves more prepared and confident.
