South Africa is committed to address climate change based on science and equity and to work with others to ensure global average temperature increases are kept well below 2°C and potentially 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

The South Africa Biennial Update Report Explorer is a new online platform designed to empower policymakers, researchers, media and civil society with the climate data, visualizations and analysis they need to gather insights on South Africa’s climate progress. It is part of South Africa’s climate change monitoring and evaluation system established to track the nation’s transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient society.

The South Africa Biennial Update Report Explorer allows users to easily evaluate the effects of mitigation actions, access data on historical and projected GHG emissions, compare circumstances and development priorities at the provincial level, understand investment priorities and funding gaps, and more.

The platform was developed with funding from the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU). Support for the platform’s launch is provided by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
