------
At this launch event, you will hear from Series authors, and other world-leading experts, on the scientific, policy, and political dimensions of ultra-processed foods, as a pressing health challenge in Australia and globally.
This landmark three-paper Lancet Series explores how ultra-processed foods (UPFs) have become a dominant feature of diets worldwide, driving a rapid rise in obesity and chronic disease, while reshaping food systems in ways that harm economies, cultures, and the planet.
The Series shows that the problem is systemic: UPFs are the product of a food economy driven by corporate interests, not nutrition or sustainability.
The authors argue that the rise of UPF in human diets is commercially generated. They are manufactured, marketed, and politically defended by powerful corporations whose business models depend on expansion into every corner of the globe.
A different path is possible: one where governments regulate effectively, communities mobilise, and healthier diets are made accessible and affordable for all.
Please join us for this not-to-be missed Australian launch event.
