LAMAS HOUSING PROJECT YOUTH SERVICE ACADEMY- JR WORKFORCE
Overview
A Program of the Lamas Housing Project
The Youth Service Academy Jr. Workforce (YSA Jr.) is to introduce youth—particularly middle and high school students—to careers in property development, construction, city planning, and property management.
Designed as a hands-on learning experience, the program partners with local schools such as San Jacinto Valley Academy (SJVA) and engages students through real-world exposure to the building blocks of city infrastructure. Participants learn about the “underground careers” that shape their neighborhoods—jobs that are essential but often overlooked in traditional career education.
Students participate in site visits, community clean-ups, planning exercises, and speaker events with professionals from development, civic planning, and construction trades. The curriculum is rooted in local relevance and designed to spark awareness, leadership, and economic opportunity in communities that have historically lacked access to industry mentorship.
By connecting education to tangible, high-demand career paths, YSA Jr. is preparing the next generation to lead with skill, service, and purpose—all while reinforcing pride in their local environment.
