Title: It’s Time We Talk about Moral Injury in School Counselor Education
Description: School counselors are vulnerable to moral injury with their complex roles; serving as educators and mental health practitioners requires them to collaborate with a range of school and community partners whose principles may conflict with those of the American School Counselor Association guidelines and ethical standards. In this interactive webinar designed for counselor educators and supervisors, participants will learn about the concept of morally injurious events and then participate in a discussion about how moral injury applies to the experiences of 21st century school counselors and specific strategies to support school counselors in training.
Objectives:
- List the three criteria that define morally injurious events
- Explain two reasons why school counselors are vulnerable to moral injury based on current events
- Identify at least three strategies for integrating moral injury into their school counseling curriculum.
