Celebrate the artistry and influence of women in music with “Divas and Dames Through the Decades: A Women’s History Concert”, featuring mezzo-soprano Kylee Slee and pianist Dr. Linda Li-Bleuel. This extraordinary evening highlights the voices and compositions of women who shaped music over three centuries, from Romantic-era icons to groundbreaking 20th-century composers. Audiences will experience a rich tapestry of repertoire, including both beloved classics and contemporary works, culminating in the world premiere of a song cycle by Maria Corley.

The program features music by Clara Schumann, Alma Mahler, Isabella Colbran, Maria Malibran, Cécile Chaminade, Nadia Boulanger, Pauline Viardot, Amy Beach, Liza Lehmann, Florence Price, and Margaret Bonds, presenting a unique opportunity to explore the diversity, creativity, and enduring impact of women in music history. Listeners will journey through the lyrical, dramatic, and inventive expressions that have defined these remarkable composers’ contributions to the musical canon.

American mezzo-soprano Kylee Slee brings her wide-ranging operatic and recital experience to the stage. A member of Theater und Orchester Heidelberg since 2021, she has performed major roles, as well as contemporary works and school-tour productions she has adapted herself. Her dynamic career spans opera, musical theatre, sacred music, and premieres of new works across Europe, offering audiences a blend of technical brilliance, expressive depth, and commanding stage presence.

Accompanying her, Dr. Linda Li-Bleuel, a celebrated pianist and Professor of Music at Clemson University, provides a masterful complement to the program. She has performed and taught internationally, collaborated with leading musicians, and championed new music commissions. Dr. Li-Bleuel’s artistry, combined with Kylee Slee’s captivating voice, ensures an evening of performance that is both inspiring and unforgettable, celebrating the voices and stories of women who shaped the world of music.
