Question 1

My child is under 18, can they participate?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we want everyone who is interested to have the chance to join us! However, any participant under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event, and a guardian must be present to sign a waiver at registration.

Question 2

How long will the float / paddle take?

Accepted Answer

We will be covering approximately 7 miles of river between Dennison Ferry and Green River Ferry. We do not expect this trip to take more than 6 hours (of easy paddling / floating), but we will require all participants to be at the Green River Ferry, out of the water, by 4:30pm.

Question 3

What should I bring while in on the river?

Accepted Answer

Hydration: We recommend bringing a refillable bottle(s) and enough water to stay hydrated for the length of the paddle. A water dispenser for volunteers to fill water bottles will be at registration.

Food: At registration KWA and our sponsors will provide coffee, donuts, and snacks.

Question 4

Should pack a lunch?

Accepted Answer

KWA and our partners plan to provide breakfast foods (fruit, granola bars, and coffee) during registration. Additionally, KWA will provide a small snack bag for participants to take with them on the water. If you would like to your own bring picnic supplies you are welcome to do so!

Question 5

Can I bring a cooler?

Accepted Answer

Yes, participants may bring coolers with them. However, due to size of the rental kayaks and space in the shuttles for transport, all coolers must be small (lunch box sized), with no chest style coolers permitted due to space constraints.

Question 6

Do I have to stay in my kayak the whole time?

Accepted Answer

No, there are several small islands on the Green River, any of which you are free to stop at if you wish. Just don't let your kayak float away! As part of the day we are asking participants to pick up any trash they see on the islands or on the shoreline.

Question 7

Are there any special safety considerations?

Accepted Answer

Yes, all participants are required to wear personal flotation devices (life jackets). They will be provided unless you are bringing your own boat. Please wear sunscreen and consider bug spray. There is no cell phone service on the river and in most areas of the park, including at registration.
