Know Your Rights Workshop: Students in Temporary Housing
Did you know that students living in temporary housing have extra rights and protections when it comes to school? We invite you to attend a Know Your Rights training session focused on the McKinney-Vento Act, a federal law that supports students in temporary housing. You are covered by this law if you are homeless, living in a shelter, living with family, living in a hotel or motel, or are an unaccompanied youth.
During the training, we will cover the following topics:
- What is the McKinney-Vento Act?
- Who created it & why was it created?
- Who does it apply to?
- What are the benefits of the law?
- How to use the law to advocate for yourself and/or your child
Spanish translation will be provided. Children are welcome to attend

Conozca sus Derechos: Estudiantes en Vivienda Temporal
¿Sabías que los estudiantes que viven en viviendas temporales tienen derechos y protecciones adicionales cuando se trata de la escuela? Lo invitamos a asistir a una sesión de capacitación de Conozca sus Derechos enfocada en la Ley McKinney-Vento, una ley federal que apoya a los estudiantes en viviendas temporales. Usted está cubierto por esta ley si no tiene hogar, vive en un refugio, vive con su familia, vive en un hotel o motel, o es un joven no acompañado.
Durante la capacitación, cubriremos los siguientes temas:
- ¿Qué es la Ley McKinney-Vento?
- ¿Quién lo creó y por qué se creó?
- ¿A quién se aplica?
- ¿Cuáles son los beneficios de la ley?
