About this event

Campbell River, BC – The Maritime Heritage Society is pleased to announce Knot Your Average Workshop, an engaging hands-on session led by master knot tyer Ruedi Pletscher.

Knots are an everyday tool, whether you’re camping, boating, working in the yard, or just trying to tie something down securely. In this workshop, Ruedi will teach three of the most essential knots everyone should know. Step by step, he’ll break down each knot with plenty of time to practice, showing how and when to use them in real-life situations.

Beyond the practical, participants will also discover that learning knots builds neural connections, strengthens problem-solving skills, and—most importantly—equips you with useful knowledge you’ll carry for life.

The Maritime Heritage Centre, home of the historic BCP45 fishing vessel and a hub for community learning, is proud to offer workshops that blend maritime traditions with everyday skills. Our mission is to preserve west coast heritage while engaging the community in hands-on, meaningful experiences.
