Event description

Description

Join Stephen Gillett, CEO and co-founder of Alphabet’s cybersecurity moonshot, Chronicle, for a community talk “Innovation, Leadership and Change.” The 1998 UO graduate will present the first in the Knight Campus Distinguished Lecture Series. Stephen's talk will explore his journey from the fields of Autzen Stadium to the hills of Silicon Valley, and discuss the lessons he’s learned every step of the way.

Starting at an IT helpdesk in Cottage Grove, Stephen has had many experiences, joining the Starbucks executive ranks as part of their digital and technology transformation as CIO and later as President at Best Buy, helping the retailer to reimagine their role in a digital and e-commerce world. An avid gamer, Stephen will take us on a journey about leadership, transformation and change and how these elements shaped him into a leader that skirts the norm, strives for innovation and views change as an opportunity, not a roadblock.

The Knight Campus Distinguished Lecture Series will be held annually at the University of Oregon, bringing nationally and internationally recognized leaders to the community to give their perspective on the future of science and innovation. As part of its mission, the Knight Campus strives to accelerate discovery and engage the public in the excitement and creativity of scientific research.
