On Sunday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m., the reNEW String Quartet will bring a diverse and fascinating program to the University of Nevada, Reno's Harlan O. & Barbara R. Hall Recital Hall.
The concert will alternate music composed by local composers Jonathan Sokol, Jason Fromme, and Maxwell Lafontant with arrangements of traditional folk songs by the famous Danish Quartet. The result will be a magical hour of music and conversation.
Comprised of violinists Ruth Lenz and Sarah Coyl, violist Dustin Budish, and cellist Eileen Brownell, the reNEW String Quarret is an ensemble of reNEW Music, whose mission is to promote collaboration between composer and performer, commission and highlight works by diverse local and national composers, and strengthen the community’s awareness and love of contemporary classical music.
The KNCJ Biggest Little Concert Series, presented quarterly, will feature a combination of music performed by some of the Truckee Meadows's finest musicians, and casual conversation both musical and personal. Inspired by the legendary, long-running public radio program Saint Paul Sunday, the Biggest Little Concert Series will be a showcase for local musicians.
The conversation for the KNCJ Biggest Little Concert Series will be moderated by Chris Morrison, producer for KNCJ public radio.
All proceeds from these concerts will benefit KNCJ, Nevada Classical and Jazz. Support for these concerts has been provided by David Fenimore, former announcer at KUNR public radio and retired professor of English at the University of Nevada, Reno.
