About this event

Our 90-minute Kintsugi Workshop introduces participants to the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection. Unlike traditional Kintsugi, which takes months, we use epoxy resin and gold-colored powder, allowing attendees to complete their artwork during the session and take it home, along with a succulent plant for their repaired ceramic pot.

What Happens During the Workshop?
Introduction: We begin by exploring the philosophy of Kintsugi and contrasting it with UK cultural norms of invisible repair or throwaway culture.
Breaking & Preparing: Participants use a small hammer to crack a ceramic pot, then distress and prepare the edges for repair.
Creating Art: Gold-colored powder is mixed with epoxy resin, which is applied to reassemble the pot, highlighting its cracks as features rather than flaws.Final Touch: The session concludes with participants planting a succulent in their newly repaired pot as a symbol of growth and renewal.
