Join us at Society 57 for “Kintsugi: For Beginners,” a unique cultural workshop led by the renowned Japanese artist, Mami Takahashi. This workshop introduces participants to the ancient art of Kintsugi, which uses gold to repair broken ceramics, emphasizing the beauty in imperfection and resilience.

What to Expect:

  • Learn the basic techniques of Kintsugi on a small ceramic plate.
  • All materials provided are food-safe.
  • Suitable for beginners; no prior experience necessary.

Instructor Bio:

Mami Takahashi is a multidisciplinary artist and scholar who has worked in Portland, Chicago, and Tokyo. She holds an MFA from Portland State University and a BFA in Japanese Painting from Joshibi University of Art and Design in Japan. Mami’s work bridges traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary cultural perspectives.

  • Space is limited to 17 participants to ensure a personalized learning experience.
  • Participants will take home their own Kintsugi art as a keepsake.
