Honor Martin Luther King Jr. with a performance by the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles, a discussion with the King Study Group, family activities, food trucks, and more.

This year, King Day will once again include a community service book donation drive with the Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., supporting the Little Free Library at the Crenshaw Family YMCA. We invite you to participate in this initiative by donating children’s books—new or gently used—that can inspire, educate, and entertain young readers and foster a love for reading among the children in our community. Picture books, early readers, and chapter books are all welcome! Donations can be dropped off at the Museum throughout the day-long festivities.

10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. | Faux Stained Glass Workshop

Create colorful window art inspired by architect Amaza Lee Meredith's light-filled Azurest South and Dr. King's vision of the Beloved Community. Design your own "stained glass" using peelable gel to make a take-home piece that will brighten your windows. All ages welcome.

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | King Study Group

Kick the day off by listening to Dr. King in his own words with the King Study Group as they listen to King’s speech"The Three Evils of Society," delivered in Chicago in 1967, then participate in a group discussion about how these words relate to our lives today.

2:00 – 3:00 p.m. | Concert

The Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles returns to CAAM to present their crowd-favorite musical tribute to MLK.
