n Week 3 of Young Creators, we’re sculpting functional art—useful objects inspired by the sea, created entirely from scratch using air-dry clay.
🌊 What We’ll Make:Students will design and sculpt their own sea-themed, functional items such as:
- A turtle-shaped trinket dish
- A shell-inspired ring holder
- A pinch pot shaped like a whale or starfish
- Or a custom piece based on their own idea!
🎨 Skills & Techniques They’ll Learn:
- Pinch pot and coil construction
- Attaching forms with scoring and slip
- Texture tools and design for function and decoration
- How to plan a design that’s both artistic and usable
✨ Creative Focus:This class blends creativity and problem-solving, as students are encouraged to think like artists and designers—considering both form and function in their piece.
🎁 Take-Home Project:Each artist will leave with a one-of-a-kind clay object that’s fully formed, ready to air dry at home, and usable in everyday life.
