COST: $219.90 for each five 1.25 hour sessions.

Program Highlights

• Focus on building and enhancing basic sewing skills. Explores potential career and side income opportunities

• Designed to promote independence and confidence and community amongst sewists.

• Sewing machines, sewing tools and some fabrics are included. Feel free to bring 1 yard of cotton fabric for first project.

•No prior experience required—just an open mind!

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

• How to thread a sewing machine
• Practice Stitching straight, curved and square lines
• Basic Troubleshooting with sewing machine
• Fabric Basics & Sewing Tools 101
• Ability to ask all questions with clear, concise answers and models
• Receive a beginner sewing notebook with video tutorial links, curated sewing machines for purchase, fabric store recommendations & more.
• Projects: Plushy, drawstring bag, upcycled shirt or skirt and more.

• Conveniently held in Historic College Park, GA, right off Main Street. Address provided upon registration

• 🔄 Makeup classes available due to emergencies or illness. Reach out at least 24 hours before class starts. Makeup dates are available.

Equipment

• Having a sewing machine at home is preferred

• Class set of machines available for use

• Instructor available to assist with purchasing a standard-sized sewing machine

Additional Information

• Optional Homework assignments will be given, however, regular practice is essential for progress.

• Masks are not required but preferred.

• Arrive 5 minutes early to set up your sewing machine.

Outline of Beginner Sewing Monthly Session

Sample Session Learning Plan• Introductions• Discuss your sewing “why?”• Introduction to sewing and flowing• Overview of basic sewing tools/notions• Explanation of the sewing machine• Threading the machine• Machine stitching practice and review techniques with start of basic sewing project!
