Join TJC for the second film in our three-part summer series: Kidnapped: The Abduction of Edgardo Mortara. Based on the true story told in Dr. David Kertzer’s The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara, the film recounts the dramatic events of 1858, when papal soldiers seized a young Jewish boy from his family in Bologna after learning he had been secretly baptized. As his parents fight desperately to bring him home, the case ignites international outrage and becomes a powerful political struggle. Following the screening, we’ll be joined via Zoom by Pulitzer prize winning author Dr. David Kertzer of Brown University for a Q&A. Doors open at 3:30 PM, film begins at 4:00. Tickets are $18 in advance or $22 at the door. $9 for anyone under 25. Wine and light refreshments will be available.
