Building an Android Chess App - From Class Project to Interactive Game

Presenter: Justin Pak

As part of a hands-on mobile development course, current student, Justin Pak, created a fully functional Android chess app that brings the classic game to life on a phone. Players can compete against a friend or challenge the computer using a custom-built engine. To make the app even more engaging, Pak integrated Stockfish, a powerful chess tool, so users can review their games and see how to improve. This project gave them the chance to work on everything from game logic to front-end design, showing how a class project can grow into a complete, interactive app.

Join this talk for a peek behind the code—see how a class project leveled up into a full Android chess game!
