Event Title: Noopiming: The Cure For White Ladies, a Keynote Lecture with Leanne Betasamosake Simpson

We are thrilled to welcome Leanne Betasamosake Simpson as the keynote speaker for our upcoming MFA in Creative Writing Residency. This event is free and open to the public.

Leanne's recent book, Noopiming: The Cure For White Ladies, was published by University of Minnesota Press as part of their Indigenous Americas series. She will discuss this novel in the context of Nishnaabe oral practice, aesthetics and storytelling, generative refusal and world-building.

Leanne is a renowned Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg scholar, writer and artist, who has been widely recognized as one of the most compelling Indigenous voices of her generation. Her work breaks open the intersections between politics, story and song—bringing audiences into a rich and layered world of sound, light, and sovereign creativity.

Following the presentation, MFA Director Judy Halebsky will be available to answer questions about the Low Residency MFA in Creative Writing program.
